A Shot In The Arm For Online DatingNew Year's Eve and the traditional kiss it holds at midnight may be the latest boon to online dating websites that have seen a bit of a slowdown over the course of the year. Resolutions to find a new mate have made the week between Christmas and New Year's one of the briskest moving for online dating sites. According to an article recently published in BusinessWeek, cited that Match.com expects to have anywhere from 30% to 50% more traffic in the holiday period between Christmas and Valentine's Day in spite of a 12% slowdown in November. Match.com is just one of the sites mentioned and others, including Yahoo Personals, American Singles Dating and others, are all expecting the same bump. While the article pins much of the result on New Year's Eve and the resolutions that follow, it seems to me that after Christmas, the last holiday push of the season comes to the top of everyone's mind, Valentine's Day. While the November concentration on Thanksgiving and the December concentration on holiday purchasing can perhaps distract from the thought of finding love, the double whammy of New Year's and Valentine's Day seems to quickly put that desire back at the forefront of singles everywhere. Online dating has become one of the go-to methods to find that special someone, so an up tick in activity should come as no real surprise as the push to find someone to smooch hits full gear. Online daters will also see a number of changes on some of the more popular sites, including Match.com, to coincide with the bump in activity. Features like allowing singles to talk on the phone without exchanging numbers are becoming more and more common. Long-time online daters can most likely thank the holiday rush for some of the new enhancements and anything that enriches the online dating experience should be a welcomed addition. That also means that singles that have scoured their local community listings on their favorite online dating site will have a fresh set of potential mates to sink their teeth into, all with the same Valentine's Day ambitions in mind. Happy hunting. Posted by eDatingCentral.com Jan 10, 2007 4:35 pm Related Online Dating News Articles:
