Dating Again - A Baby Boomer PerspectiveBaby boomers were born in the few years right after World War II. Their numbers are large, roughly 82 million in the US alone. Of that, between 25 and 27 million are single and looking. What exactly are they looking for? Some senior singles don't even know what they are looking for in a mate or date. But they know what they don't want, however. They don't want someone who is trying to change them, someone with a burdensome personality or someone who is financially needy. By knowing what they don't want, these singles hope to find someone that does work for them. Even with knowing what they don't want, they have an extensive list of wants. Senior singles still want good looking, smart, funny and caring. In short, they seek close to perfection. By their own admission in surveys and questionnaires, they have high standards. Their standards may even seem impossible to fill. However, they are not willing to settle for someone just to say they are in a relationship. Many men and women choose to remain single over settling for a life partner. Do older make seniors pickier? Yes, but with good reason. They may have lived through ordeals they choose not to live through again. They may have tried a living arrangement and have it blow up in their face and are not willing to do it again. With age gives them security – they aren't in a hurry to prove anything to the world or a family. They only have themselves to make and keep happy. Baby boomers may have the right mindset that everyone needs to adopt while dating. Make yourself happy first and then look for a person who compliments you. If you aren't happy with yourself, how can someone else be happy with you? Find and do things that make you happy and healthy, then look for someone who is also happy and healthy to date.
