A Renaissance In ChivalryThough the definition is sure to change from woman to woman, the idea of chivalry, according to a recent article is still very much alive in the hearts and minds of today's daters. From holding a door to being polite, chivalry remains at the top of the list of desirable traits for many single women. Of course, old standbys are important like opening a car door for a date or walking someone to their front door are important, especially so if a woman is expecting to have her car door opened and you end up in the car while she is still waiting on the curb for your chivalry to set in. In most cases, better safe than sorry seems like the most prudent advice as chivalry can be modified later to include your particular date's version of the ideal. For online daters, the question of chivalry can come into play well before an initial meeting. Though holding a car door is a great way to show chivalry, doing so online resorts more to a general politeness than it does to any kind of physical act. Asking the woman you are conversing with how her day went or asking permission to send a photograph can show small touches of politeness during the online dating courtship.
