The Economy of First DatesAnyone who has been paying attention to the news has been given a high dose of anxiety along with their nightly news. Everywhere you look there is more and more bad news about the economy. This has caused many singles to cut back in their expenses and begin to watch their budget with extreme care. No longer are daters comfortable spending large amounts of money on expensive nights out, and this could have a great affect on romance. While the decision to cut back on first date events and dinners is not good for the high priced restaurants, it has prompted many single people to become more creative in the things they decide to do on a first date. Many individuals are cooking at home for their dates, or finding inexpensive activities to do with their love interest. This can actually be a wonderful trend. When you are not distracted by the fancy expensive restaurant or the atmosphere in a trendy club, you can actually focus your attention on the man or woman that you are getting to know. A simple walk in the park is a lot more romantic than a night of dancing in the hottest club in town. Simplicity has replaced trendy and it can be a wonderful opportunity to focus on what really matters in a relationship. Getting back to basics might be the positive outcome of this economic downturn. When the economy is back on track and people are feeling more secure in however long that takes, let's hope that the simplicity continues and dating singles realize what is really important on a first date. It is not where you are, but the connection that you are making. It may seem as though this is a Pollyanna view of the world, but sometimes you just have to look for the silver lining.
