Falling Hard Before The First DateOnline dating, just as any other aspect of life, can have its outcome greatly affected by the expectations you put on the process to begin with. If, while searching through your favorite matchmaking web site, you meet a select single that you think is totally hot and then you hit it off, your expectations might be for an amazing first date. When that first date comes to pass and the conversation stalls or the other person's personality isn't quite what you were hoping for, you are left crushed thinking about what could have been based on the expectations you had going into the date. This is a situation that has happened to all of us and while it is certainly not specific to dating, it certainly seems like dating singles out there brings up a lot more shattered expectations than anything else. The best way to avoid getting crushed is to simply refrain from pumping yourself up with expectations that high to begin with. Start out small, expecting nothing more than a relatively pleasant meal or coffee, and you will either be slightly disappointed or pleasantly surprised. In the world of online dating, we have the ability to filter out people right at the beginning of the process and for some people, that provides a false sense of security. Just because you knocked out all of the singles that likes "Friends" doesn't mean you've found a soul mate. Just because you lucked upon someone that also likes the god-awful Undercover Brother, that certainly shouldn't set your expectations high. In dating, as with anything in life, it is best to go into the process with some optimistic caution. Be ready if things go well, but don't set yourself up for profound disappointment if your Undercover Brother crush turns out to be about as entertaining as the movie, that is to say, not at all.
