Online Dating Service In Hot WaterAccording to a story in the Kansas City Info Zine Attorney General Jay Nixon obtained a temporary restraining order against Luvoo.com. You can read the full story here: Nixon Sues Online Dating Service. The site apparently violated the state's No Call law. More than 140 residents of Missouri reported receiving telemarketing calls during the month of June soliciting memberships for the dating service.
The No Call law has been in effect in the state for five years now and Nixon intends to enforce the law and protect the peace of the residents. Circuit Judge Lisa Van Amburg signed a temporary restraining order, which prohibits the defendants from calling Missouri residents on the No Call list.
People have the right to decide whether they want to receive telemarketing calls. If they choose not to, those rights should be protected. Unfortunately many companies continue to dial the numbers of those currently on No Call lists. When the rights of people are totally disregarded by companies such as these, it is nice change to see those rights being protected. Posted by eDatingCentral.com Sep 3, 2006 6:00 pm
