Do Taller Guys Finish First?The Sydney Morning Herald website had a rather interesting and funny story about this one single and his approach to online dating. At first read, it sounded like a lose-lose situation. But by the end, it turned out to be a refreshing look at how online dating is not so different than the traditional dating scene. To start, when filling out his online profile, the guy was honest with his height, which appeared to not satisfy many women. If he left it blank, he was barraged with people requesting his height. When he responded, the answer either turned off the women or they failed to reply again. His lack of potential dates became annoying. Was he right in being annoyed? Some of you may be saying he should have lied about his height, only to rope in some dates. After they were roped in, he could hold on to the hope that they were smitten and the lack of height would not be an issue. But then you have the issue of beginning a relationship out on a lie. I wouldn't recommend it. He does have a point in his height gripe. Being short does not change your personality. It does not change your overall look or your values. Why was he ignored once his height was released? Is he less likeable? Less desirable? No. His profile simply needs more exposure and with the right women. One problem with the online dating scene stems from the instant gratification generation. Often times, people mistake online for meaning instant. Just because online dating is popular, it doesn't mean you will get instant matches like instant messages. Finding the right person for you still takes time and patience. Online dating was created for people who don't like clubs or bars or those who want to meet people far away. It is another avenue to explore in the route to finding the love of your life. Even with the internet, dating doesn't happen over night. I believe if he makes his profile interesting, witty and fun, women will see him for whom he really is and not just how tall he isn't. He will need to wait a little longer as waiting for your true match, whether online or in person, still takes time.
