Sage Advice for Senior Singles
If you've been out of the dating market for awhile, diving back in can make a nervous wreck of you no matter what your age. Maureen Paton decided to do it in her fifties, and wrote this great article sharing her anecdotes and some sage and useful advice.
The key to getting back into the dating scene at any age is confidence. Of course, that's easier said than done. Confidence can be tricky for any woman to dredge up, and more so if you've been out of the dating loop for a couple of decades or so.
Paton offers the sensible advice of getting yourself in shape. She took belly-dancing at her local gym. She also suggests a make-over, both wardrobe and make-up. Find a fashion-savvy friend to help you over-haul your closet, and treat yourself to a professional's touch at your local upscale beauty counter. Working out will help you feel and look healthier, and showing off your new make-over with help you come up with that confidence.
The next tricky part, is actually finding some men to date. It might seem daunting upon first consideration. Common wisdom holds that there aren't any good men out there looking for a mature woman. Not so, says Paton. She found herself much in demand, to her own surprise, and eventually had to choose between two wonderful men vying for her affections. We should all be so lucky!
She suggests trying out dating websites and lonely hearts personals, adding a word of caution for those older ladies who might not be familiar with personal ad lingo. Paton also suggests joining some clubs that appeal to your interests, or even going to the local pub.
Armed with Paton's amusing stories and fantastic advice, dating will hold no fear for the senior singles, no matter how long it's been since they last looked for love.
