How To Meet Singles in New YorkThe New York Times argues that avenues other than online dating do indeed work. They claim to have a huge following with their voice personals listings and give online dating a run for their money. But do they really?
The New York Times says it caters to dating singles of a higher intellect and those in the 40's or older. The users of the voice listings feel they are more personal and intimate. As long as it works for them, then it is as good as any other method. But realistically, newspaper personals are great for people who don't own or have access to a computer or the Internet. Otherwise, it's hard to argue the finer qualities of newspaper personals when compared to what online dating sites offer these days.
Online dating has become the way to meet someone. You read their profile, pore over their picture and then decide if you want to contact them for a date. This can all be done from the comfort of home, at 6 in the morning or 11 at night. Many online dating sites even offer video messages and greetings, so they can be just as or more personal than the newspaper listings. And you get to see the person's face and details before deciding to contact them and hand over your contact information. The online dating arena still remains a win-win situation for all singles involved. Posted by eDatingCentral.com Jan 5, 2007 2:14 pm
