Simple Guidelines to Setting Up SinglesWhen you are happy in a relationship, you want to see everyone around you happy as well. There is a natural tendency to meet your eligible dentist and think of matching him up with your friend's single cousin, or try and fix a blind date between a guy you just met at a party with your boyfriend's sister. Each one of us has tried to matchmaking at least once in our lifetime, and whereas women are more prone to it, men are not immune to a few matchmaking stints of their own. But when you do decide to match make, you need to know for sure that the two people you are trying to bring together are decidedly single and be absolutely sure of their sexual preferences. An unfortunate number of fiascos happen when well-meaning friends or relatives try to set up a gay man with a pretty young girl or a secretly engaged woman with the latest office hotshot guy. The idea is to make people happy, not put them in situations they'd rather not be in. To this end, approach the subject gently and back off immediately if you sense that the person you want to match with someone else is not keen at all. Also remember the old adage about bringing a horse to water: don't force issues or resort to emotional blackmail. This holds true even after the first date has been accomplished: don't compel the parties to meet again if they do not wish to do so. Remember that getting two people to date is not about you, it is about them. As a recent article says, be as sure as you can using your logic and dating instinct that these two could hit it off because they are likely to be compatible or have common interests. If all goes well, you get to have a gloating speech at the wedding and the couple would thank you for bringing them such happiness. But be ready for it not to work out: after all, nobody knows why two people fall in love and why they don't. Leave it up to destiny, and remember that the fact that you created one dating disaster for someone does not mean you should give up matchmaking. You just have to be more careful next time, do a lot more research into both the candidates, and hope for the best.
