Senior Seeks Love Online

More and more senior people are having sexual relationships at an older age. Several factors have contributed to the rise of this new dating demographic. Along with greater life expectancy, new drugs that allow the aging to stay active, as well as those that enhance sexual ability, make it possible for seniors not only to live longer together, but to go out and do things, and to foster sexual relationships.

The Internet has facilitated so many of these new matches, that senior singles are now the number one users of online matchmaking services. As these developments have gained momentum over the past few years, they have brought about an overall change in attitude that has made this new approach to the golden years a widespread trend.

The attitude shift is key because sex outside of marriage and cohabitation were once highly reproachable to today's boomer generation. They no longer are re-marrying, mainly because marriages changes pension plans, health care responsibilities, and can alienate children who are worried about inheritance or still feel the loss of their other parent too strongly to accept a marriage.

In fact, children pose the strongest opposition to late-in-life-romance, mostly because watching a widowed parent reinvent themselves can be tough. But while boomers are taking part in more youthful activities, they by no means have forsaken the devotion to family that we expect from the elderly. Many say that their kids' acceptance of their new life is hugely important, and many children of senior daters do understand.

Those who support new relationships appreciate them for keeping their parent active and excited about life.
