The Importance of DatingOver the years, the trend towards meeting singles in bars has virtually destroyed the skills necessary for effective dating. Many people feel that this is a loss art that needs to be addressed and corrected. In order to understand why the traditional wooing process is sometimes considered a lost art, it is important to see how certain aspect of seeking a romantic partnership has changed. Among other things, the first rule of dating is that you must specifically ask the other person to go out with you. While a telephone call is acceptable, texting is often very impersonal, and therefore, not a request for a date. After all, the matchmaking process isn't always about taking the fastest, easiest route to knowing someone else. Even though single women today are considered liberated, the stereotypical roles of "ladies and gentlemen" includes the man paying for any financial obligations during the date. While the notion may seem quaint, perhaps we need to evaluate what this trend says about future marital roles. As an example, a large majority of singles get into romantic relationships as a prelude to having children. Making sure that your potential children are financially secure is, or may be, a big part of what you need to assess in the dating process. Finally, take your time and enjoy the overall matching process. It is not always necessary to plan what you will do when you are together. On the other hand, dating is an important part of knowing how you will both interact with friends, as well as finding out how you feel about each other. If you do not plan outings with these people, chances are you won't be able to know if your social future with a potential spouse will be something far different from what you'd anticipated. Sometimes, it seems like we go out into the world, and gain all sorts of experiences, thinking that the answers of older generations are not the best for us. As time goes by, we may find ourselves going back to their matchmaking methods. Dating trends appear to be in just such a flux, as people are beginning to feel that more traditional forms are more likely to result in romantic success.
