eHarmony Is Heating UpOnline dating services thrive on bringing people with different requirements on a common platform. But like all other organizations, each dating site has a philosophy and ideology all its own, and no two dating websites can afford to be exactly alike. In the online world, the only way to survive and flourish is to stand out from the crowd. This need and desire to stand out has forced each personals service to carve out a niche of its own in the online dating scene. Each has created its own image, and is striving to create and tap into its own customer base. While some take pride in matchmaking for marriage, others exist to serve thrill-seekers and adventurers in the romantic arena. Each has decided to capture the online dating market from a different angle. As an article pointed out, there are those websites that accept gays and there are those that don't. It all boils down to a matter of policy of different websites trying to serve different categories of singles. Yes, of course there is a whole lot of websites that cater to both heterosexuals and homosexuals, but eHarmony is not one of them. eHarmony is taking the stand that it is difficult to offer dating services for gays because they are strictly targeting heterosexual singles that are looking for marriage. The article also points out that the gay community has so many online dating options available and for the most part be unaffected by a few websites' policies of straight dating only.
