The High Tech Dating WorldNobody knows how to write love letters anymore. Or at least, no one in their twenties does. But then again, why would these young people bother to learn how to write love letters when they can text exactly what they wanted to say? Would it be more convenient and clear to do so? Or if they want to be more elaborate about it, would it be acceptable to post a short message on Facebook or on Twitter, or perhaps even send an email? Today's high tech world has made interpersonal communications far easier than it was ten years ago. There definitely is no denying that fact. If you want to talk to your date right this instant and you have his or her phone number, all you need to do is to pick up your mobile and dial the number. If you want to meet someone, chances are that you will find him or her in social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace or LinkedIn. If you want to get to know someone, you do not have to ask him or her anymore. Just run a Google search on that person and you may find whatever information that may shock or impress. All this is well and good. After all, what is technology for but to make things fast, easy and convenient? When it comes to dating, you can cut through the chase and just get it on when you feel like it. No more bull about getting to know one another first because it is highly likely that all you needed to know about someone, you already found out on the Internet. But on the other hand, technology makes romance seem cold and mechanical. Romance is all about mystery, intrigue and passion. It is not romance when there is no longer any need to unveil any secrets or mysteries surrounding a potential date. It is not romance when there is no need to kindle the flame first before getting it on. It is not romance when it is over within a week because of the huge boredom. Technology makes romance shallow and less captivating. Maybe it is time for young daters today to learn how to write love letters – by hand – again.
