For many singles, the sudden rush of New Year's Eve means a number of things. Some will dread the next day because it means they must make an appearance at the gym, or give up all those gorgeous leftover chocolates. Still other people dread New Year's Eve because of what it does to their romantic expectations.

If you are single and unattached, New Year's Eve may be especially difficult to navigate through. On the one hand, you want to spend the evening with good friends, celebrate the coming of new matchmaking opportunities and new beginnings. On the other hand, if you do not have a date, you may find yourself feeling alone in a room full of couples.

That said, a great deal of New Year's dating stress can be avoided if you simply live to enjoy the moment, instead of worrying what others are doing or thinking. Among other things, if you are dateless at a party, there is no need to feel desperate and in despair. Simply let the evening unfold. If you find yourself without someone to kiss at midnight, let it go and don't worry about it.

As with anything else in life, the way you feel about yourself projects itself to everyone in the room. When you relax and feel comfortable, you may actually meet someone that you will be very happy with. On the other hand, if you try too hard, you may well scare that perfect match away.

Even though many singles dread New Year's Eve, it is the perfect time to begin making some changes in your dating life. If you are single and unattached, practicing being confident and relaxed can be the beginning of a wonderful new relationship. Instead of focusing on all the pressure, consider that you have nothing to lose. Once the pressure is off, you may well come out a romantic winner.
